The StoneArt 2015 exhibit, at the Boquete Biblioteca, July 1 ~ 31, 2015, entitled “Faces,” is the premier showing of Stone's new style of painting. Here are pictures of the opening night. Michael Stone, who is known simply as “Stone”, has been painting for over 60 years and comes from an artistic family. His Great Grandfather was hired by museums to restore their old Masters, and he used to joke and say “there's no van Gogh I don't know!” Both of Stone's Grandparents painted with oils and his mother painted with watercolors and pastels. He remembers selling a pencil sketch to one of his Grandfather's business associates for the grand sum of $1.25, at the age of 7, and calls it his first “professional” sale. For most of his artistic career Stone painted photo-realistic female nude figures. He did several commission works during that time that were life-size renditions of wives, models and actresses, for various clients. He has painted using several different mediums and styles, even under three different pseudonyms during the “Flavor of the Week” art craze of the New York gallery scene of the late 60's and early 70's. If you have ever seen any of the very-rare paintings by French Realist painter, Renee Gilbere, French Impressionist painter Jacque LaRoche, or American Indian water-colorist David Rainbird, you were actually looking at paintings done by Stone. During his long artistic career, Stone has sold over 7,000 originals and prints of his works worldwide.
